It seems my primary work is that of
observation and recording. Every where I go I see images that inspire me
to represent them in some way.
My love of the natural world around me is a gift, in addition to painting, that my father gave to me. It is a very important connection in my life, a "touch stone" to reality in a sea of myths. So it is no surprise that it is there that I draw much of my inspiration. I love the literal, graphic and abstract visions it provides. I am also drawn to the effects of different light, contrast, shadows and colors.. The attraction happens for known and unknown reasons. Working from memory frees my expression and this method enters all my work whether I am working on location or when working from digital photos in the studio.
As I grow and evolve as an artist and individual I want my work to be of high quality and to speak truthfully. Whether they are representational images or journeys into the graphic and abstract images from without and within. Through my art I want myself and others to find expression, wonder, contemplation, or a familiar enticing place to enter.
