West Island Gallery will open a new show of paintings by Lois Strickland Saturday, September 13th from 4PM to 6PM.  Please join us to meet the artist and see her new work. 

 

Strickland, a Pownal resident, frequents mid-coast Maine’s woods and shores for inspiration.  Her new body of work brings us closer to those subjects through her unique vantage point and sense of scale.  Looking down on a cove or deeply into the flickering light of a heavy wood, gently across a tranquil lake at sunset or sunrise, Strickland reminds us of the splendor of the nature.

 

Many of Strickland’s new paintings were done in Georgetown and the result is a room full of familiar places rendered in her unique style.

 

This will be the last reception of the season and we hope you’ll join us also to celebrate the completion of our 11^th year in business.
